Mike Blanton Obituary
Michael Anthony Blanton, age 74, of Cherryville, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born May 24, 1949, in Cleveland County to the late Clyde and Katherine Payne Blanton.
Mike loved spending time with his family and friends, and making people laugh. He had a love for all sports and his favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Tar Heels. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met through his kindness and sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Lee Hester Blanton; siblings, Danny Blanton, Sarah Weaver, Gail Graham, and Rachel Ledford; and nephew, Todd Weaver.
Survivors include his daughter, Brandy Blanton Swink and husband, Brian; granddaughters, Paige Anthony and fiancé, Cameron Long, Macenzie Seagle and husband, Austin; sister-in-law, Patty Dellinger and husband, Tim; brother-in-law, Ronnie Weaver; nieces and nephews, April Morales, Rita Cunningham, Trina Henderson, Leslie Sawyer, Lawrence Hamrick, Kim Ledford, Jeff Ledford, and Brittany Link; and special family member, Tod Darty.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
