Michael Andrew Huffman aka "Coach Huffy", aged 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25th. His life started on April 13, 1947 in Limon Colorado. He grew up near the Huffman Family Homestead. He attended Limon Schools graduating in 1965.Upon graduation, his success as a Limon Badger in football and wrestling allowed him to attend Western State University in Gunnison, Colorado. He majored in science and football. At WSC he played football, and cultivated a love for teaching and coaching. But most importantly he met the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Trimby. They were married August 9, 1969. He taught science and coached football, wrestling, and track at high schools in Florence, Denver, and Fowler, Colorado. His success as a coach gave him the opportunities to travel with his wrestling teams internationally.
However, he was most known for his sales acumen and having a true passion for life, rarely sitting still. He enjoyed engaging with people and was very social. If you started out as a client or acquaintance, you ended up as a friend. Mike never met a stranger.
He was an avid football fan, car enthusiast, and had a love for animals. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Michael was preceded in death by his
parents, Ann and Boyd Huffman. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Trimby, his children Catherine, Rene, and Michael; his grandchildren Taylor Smith and Brandon Smith. Also surviving are his brother Frank, his two sisters Peggy Schmidt and Susan Yoder, Bob, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His service will be a Rosary at 7pm July 10 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 425 H Ave and services at the Pershing Memorial Cemetery July 11 at 10 am C Ave and 6 Street all in Limon.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 13 from 3 to 5 pm at Mountain High Christian Center, 8444 US Highway 285, Morrison Colorado 80465.
