On February 27, 2025, Michael Anthony Lewis, a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 62 in Salisbury, Maryland. Born on March 2, 1962, in Port Smith, Virginia. Mike was the son of the late William (Bill Tom) and Mary Carolyn Lewis and was raised in Snow Hill, Maryland. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, and he dedicated himself to his work as an electrician in both the industrial and maritime industries, serving at renowned companies such as Crown Cork and Seal, Chesapeake Ship Building, and American Cruise Line.
Mike was known for his quiet strength and pride, always finding solace in his garage in Parsonsburg, where he loved to tinker. He took great joy in attending car shows, showcasing his beloved 1971 Chevrolet Pickup and 1973 Corvette, while also enjoying his more recent addition, a 2015 Chevy Silverado. His passion for automobiles was only rivaled by his culinary skills; Mike won the hearts of many with his famous chili, taking home the trophy at the 2023 Car Show's Chili Cook-Off. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of cooking a whole hog with his dear friend Jimmy Downs, a tradition they shared several times a year.
Mike's love for family was evident in every gathering. He delighted in hosting Christmas breakfasts for his children and grandchildren, basking in the warmth of family togetherness. A loyal friend, he maintained close relationships throughout his life, including a lasting friendship with Jimmy Downs and a newfound connection with his neighbor, Wayne Janschek, who became a daily companion in recent years.
Though Mike was a private man, he was fiercely patriotic and proudly supported the values he believed in. He found comfort in watching Fox News, along with the antics of Jerry Springer and the judge's wisdom from Judge Judy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Roxie Shortt-Lewis; his daughter, Jessica Lewis along with her children Dasia, Jadah, Mikah, and Troy; his daughter, Lynnie Lewis and her children Juniper and Georgia; his son, Jonathan Goodman (Susanna); and his brothers Andy Lewis (Bonnie) and Bruno Lewis. Mike's presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever hold a place in the hearts of those who knew him.
His legacy of service, kindness, and the joy he brought into the lives of others will remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Mike. Your spirit will live on in the laughter and love you shared with everyone around you.
Please join family and friends for Mike's celebration of life on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Powellville Volunteer Fire Department.
