Mike Marsden

Mike Marsden, 63, of Bryson City, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025. He was a native of Burlington, WI. He joined the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of both the Desert Storm War and Desert Sand Conflict. Mike was an entrepreneur at heart. He was one of the founders of Nantahala Brewery, and Across the Trax, which he operated for seven years. He later established Valley River Brewery in Murphy, operating it for the last 11 years. Mike was a devoted owner and spent his life running the business's and keeping his customers happy. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and loved spending time with his grandchildren by playing at the park and fishing in the river.
He was the son of Carol Marsden of Burlington, WI and the late William "Bill" Marsden. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a son, Ian Marsden; and a niece, Mallory McKeen.
In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Dawn Marsden of Bryson, City, NC; two daughters, Alyssa Moreno and husband Salvador of Hayesville, NC, and Samantha Marsden of Bryson City, NC; four sisters, Kelly, Wendy, Karen, and Patricia; one brother, Billy; and two grandsons, Salvador and Marcus.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
