Mike Reed, 70, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Mike was born October 23, 1955, in Christian County, Kentucky, the son of Lushin Reed and Lee Emma Reed. He spent many years working as a paint line supervisor for C&F Stamping / Autostyle Plastics before later pursuing his passion by opening Reed's Body Shop in Hopkinsville, a family business previously owned in other locations by his father.

Mike had a lifelong love of automobiles and was widely known for his exceptional talent in body work and paint detailing. In his younger years, he enjoyed building hot rods and restoring cars, with his favorites being a 1970 Chevelle and 1969 Roadrunner. His craftsmanship and pride in his work earned him the respect of many who knew him.

Beyond cars, Mike was an avid sports fan who especially loved cheering on Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball. He also cherished time spent telling stories and reminiscing with family and friends, often sharing laughter and memories of years gone by. Above all, Mike loved his family deeply and took great pride in his children and grandchildren, whose accomplishments and lives brought him immense joy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lushin Reed.

Mike is survived by his loving mother, Lee Emma Reed of Hopkinsville; his son, Michael Reed Jr. of Hopkinsville, KY; his daughter, Jennifer (Dr. Robert "Bobby") Green of Cedar Hill, TN; his brother, Earl "Bubba" (Kathy) Reed of Cadiz, KY; and his sisters, Mary Schwark and Tricia Efird, both of Hopkinsville, KY.

He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Alexis Harper and Houston Deason, both of Hopkinsville, KY, and Layla Reed and Josie Reed of Mt. Pleasant, SC, along with several beloved nieces and nephews and the mother of his children, Sandra Davis King (Dennis Kozac), who remained a close friend and caretaker.

Mike will be remembered for his hardworking spirit in his younger years, his passion for cars, his love of sports, and most importantly, his deep love for his family.
