Mike was born on Sunday, April 18, 1948 in Odessa, Texas to Rex Robert and Tully Beth (Webb) Russell. He graduated from Ector High School in Odessa before pursuing his bachelor's degree at West Texas AandM University where he majored in biology with a minor in chemistry. Mike married the love of his life, Susan Jenkins, in Chickasha, Oklahoma on June 22, 1984, and they cherished every day of their forty wonderful years together. Mike worked forty-seven years as a drilling supervisor, spending time both with Gulf Oil and Chevron before retiring in 2013. He enjoyed collecting coins, sudoko and playing dominoes, and working in the yard. He loved to listen to music, fishing for crappie at Grand Lake, visiting with friends, and he especially loved playing games and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his dogs, especially his dachshund, Josie. Mike was a member of the Assembly of God.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Russell; two sons, Michael Cody Russell of OKC, and Rex Hayden Russell and Dannysha, of Tuttle; two daughters, Christi Michelle Russell of OKC, and Rachael Susanne Russell and partner Andrea of OKC; six grandchildren, Peyton Haigood, Dayden Russell, Rex Bowen Russell, Delaney Russell, Tully Beth Counterman, and Maddie Gerner; sister, Donna Crenwelge and Otto of Houston; two sisters-in-law, Deborah Casados and Dana of Murchison, Texas, and Robin Brumley and Steven of Rush Springs; as well as many other extended family and friends.
