Mildred Daniel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Casey Funeral Home and Cremations on Dec. 10, 2025.
Mildred Kathryn Fields Daniel, 95, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Taylor Care Center in Jacksonville, Florida. Mildred was born in Johnston County on June 09, 1930 to the Late John James "Jim" Fields, Jr. and Jessie Bertha Wellons Fields. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by a brother, Holton Fields.

Mildred graduated from Princeton High School in 1948, where she proudly played basketball for both the school and the town team. After high school, Mildred attended business school in Tampa, Florida. Upon completing her studies , she returned to Princeton and worked as a clerk in the Johnston County Register of Deeds office. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, James Calvin "Jimmy" Daniel. Together they raised two children, James Sandlin Daniel and Jenny Kathryn Daniel.

Mildred's working years took her and Jimmy to Jacksonville, Florida, as he worked on the construction of Interstate 95. They made Jacksonville their permanent home, and for more than 60 years she was a devoted member of Hendricks United Methodist Church (now Faith Methodist Church). She was a proud and faithful member of the Wesleyan Guild and dedicated over 40 years of service to the UCOM Urban Services food bank. Mildred also served as a chaplain in the Methodist Church and shared her love of faith by teaching second grade Sunday school for 10 years.

Mildred will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her service to others and the love she poured into her family and community.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, December 12, 2025 in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations with Pastor Tim Hooks and Reverend Billy Sander officiating. Committal will be held in Princeton Cemetery at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 13, 2025. The family will receive friends before the service from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.
