Mildred Dorne Hall passed into her Lord's presence on September 20, 2024, at the age of 98.
She is survived by her son, David Sebron Hall, and his wife, Kathleen; her daughter, Sharon Gipson, and her husband, Tom; eleven grandchildren and their families, which include 26 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Dorothy Lou (Hall) Butler, of Wylie, TX, and Betty Jean (Hall) Loos, of Denton, TX.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Odell Naile and Gladys Dorne (Barrier) Naile; her husband, Claudie Sebron Hall, Jr.; her brother, Donald Naile, and sister-in-law Rhetta Naile; and brothers-in-law, Joseph J Butler and Eugene Loos.
Mildred was born on June 26, 1926, in Salisbury, NC, where she grew up. She graduated from Columbia Bible College, now Columbia International University, in Columbia, SC, in 1948. Upon graduation, she moved to Lubbock, TX. There she met her sweetheart, C. Sebron Hall, Jr., in January of 1950, and they were married on July 1, 1950, at Scofield Memorial Church in Dallas. In their first decade of marriage and family, seismograph work in support of oil and gas exploration had them moving 33 times across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and even Cuba! But in 1961 they settled down in Garland. They reconnected with Scofield Church and raised their family in community and service with that church family.
Mildred was a fully devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Her life was marked by character qualities of patience, grace, and thankfulness, built on a bedrock faith and confidence in God's love and sovereign lovingkindness which sustained her through every circumstance of her life. Early in her young adult life, while in college at Columbia, she linked Psalm 18:30a and 32b and embraced them as her "life verse": "As for God, His way is perfect And [He] maketh my way perfect" (KJV). When a single verse proved inadequate to capture what she held most dear, she expanded that "life verse" to include Galatians 2:20, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me." (KJV)
Armed with that devoted faith, she partnered with her sweetheart and husband to raise 2 teenagers through the tumultuous 1960's. Her faith carried her through a serious bout with cancer in the late 1980's, and in God's sovereign lovingkindness He turned a human prognosis of 18 months into more than 36 years. Through it all, she was confident that her loving, sovereign Father was weaving a pattern of her life that she would never fully see until she met Him face-to-face.
We, her family, extend our deepest gratitude to each staff member of The Wesleyan at Estrella Assisted Living and Memory Care, and Blue Water Hospice, both of Georgetown, TX, for their love and excellence as they cared for Mildred in her final years.
