It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mildred May (nee Sykes) Hoffa, 86, who passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Paoli Hospital after battling multiple bouts of cancer. She was the daughter of Charles and Mildred May (nee Smith) Sykes and was born in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia on December 31, 1938. She attended Roxborough High School where she enjoyed singing in various choirs, graduated from Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing and subsequently worked as a Registered Nurse at Bryn Mawr Hospital in the Endoscopy unit.
Millie enjoyed spending time with family at the shore house in North Wildwood and was an avid antique shopper who regularly frequented flea markets, yard sales and thrift shops. She attended St. Matthews United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was an active member with the church's 59ers senior group. Millie was also very active with the Upper Merion's Women's Club where she served as president for several years.
She loved her family dearly and her grandchildren and great grandson were her pride and joy. She will be greatly missed by all.
Surviving is her loving family including 3 daughters, Cynthia McWilliams (Mark), Deb Reid (Brian), and Lorraine Owens (Michael); six grandchildren, Austen Reid, Lindsey Reid, Alexa May Owens, John Michael Owens, Dalton Owens, and Daniel Owens; one great grandson, Flynn Butler; her ex-husband, Dave; and her sister in-law, Cathy.
Millie is preceded in death by her son, Gregory (Bonnie Dailey) and her son-in-law, Mark McWilliams.
The family will receive relatives and friends at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, 805 DeKalb St. Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Friday, May 16th, 2025 from 10am to 12pm, with her service beginning at 12pm. Interment will be private.
