Born on September 2nd, 1934, in Ashville, North Carolina, Mildred graced this world with her presence for nearly nine decades, leaving a legacy etched in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing her.
Mildred was the cherished daughter of Leslie King and Helen Corn. She shared a close bond with her siblings, Thelma McCurdy, Wilma Wykle, And Nellie Zerfass. Her grandparents, George Corn and Annie Alexander, played pivotal roles in shaping her wonderful character.
In her youth m Mildred developed a profound love for story telling, a trait that endeared her to many. Despite her gentle nature, she was known for her honesty; when something vexed her, she would certainly make it known. Her kind heart, generous spirit, funny anecdotes, and loyalty forged countless lasting friendships. Mildred's considerate nature made her a beacon in her community, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Mildred shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, William Howell. They cherished simple pleasures, from sitting on the porch, watching fireflies dance in the summer night, to playing with children and tending to her garden. An avid quilter and reader, Mildred found joy and tranquility in her pastimes, leaving behind a collection of stories and handcrafted quilts that echo her enduring warmth and creativity.
Though Mildred has left this earthly realm, her spirit lives on in the tender memories and love she imparted. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and joy will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Mildred is proceeded in death by her loving siblings. She is survived by numerous extended family members who will carry forward her storied and the impact of her generous soul. Her family invites those who knew and loved Mildred to express their condolences and share their fond memories.
Services to honor Mildred's life will be held at a later date. Details will be provided to allow all who were touched by her to gather and celebrate a remarkable woman.
