Mildred Virginia Hunt

Mildred Virginia Parker Hunt, age 92, of Elizabeth City, NC, died at her residence on Thursday, November 20, 2025. She was born in Pasquotank County on March 11, 1933 to the late Narcissua Parker and Clifton Parker, she was the widow of John Hunt. A lifelong resident of the Tar Heel State, she dedicated much of her life to serving the community as a devoted cafeteria worker and bus driver in the local school system. Her warm smile and caring nature left an indelible mark on the many children and colleagues she encountered over the years.
She is survived by her son, Lorenzo Cooper; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Hazel Cower; and sisters, Esther Lee and Ty Lou.
A woman of simple pleasures, Mildred found joy in tending to her garden and preparing home-cooked meals. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mildred's home was a place of comfort and hospitality, where friends and family gathered to enjoy her delicious creations and the warmth of her generous heart. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, and she was a faithful member of New Salem Baptist Church. There, she found a community of like-minded souls who shared her beliefs and values, providing her with a sense of purpose and belonging.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Twiford Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ernest Cole officiating. A visitation will take place on Sunday, November 30, 2025 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel.
