Karen "Kiki" Kay Herring Quick, age 59, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on November 16, 2025, in Hertford, NC, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on September 21, 1966, in San Diego, CA, to the late Claudia and Master Chief Paul Herring, Sr., and was the beloved wife of Timothy Ray Quick, Sr. She was known for her warmth, loyalty, vibrant smile, and colorful personality that made her unforgettable. A devoted wife, Karen shared a life of partnership and deep affection with her husband. Their bond was built on love, humor, and unwavering support for one another. She was also a cherished sister, creating memories rooted in connection, sibling rivalry, and the unique bond that only siblings share.
Karen was a caregiver who carried a deep love for the simple beauties of life. Dragonflies, with their bright shimmer and graceful flight, were her favorite-small reminders, she often said, of resilience, transformation, and the magic hidden in everyday moments. She found joy in quiet mornings with her cup of coffee, sunlit days, and the companionship of her beloved dogs, who were always by her side, offering comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. She enjoyed playing games, keeping up with current events, and spending time with her animals. She was caring, helpful, and uniquely spirited - qualities that shaped the way she loved those around her.
In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her children, Colleen Boyle and Christopher R. Lamb (Alexandria). She was a caring and involved stepmother to Tim Quick (Zoe), Tommy Quick (Becky), and Sam Quick; and she adored her cherished grandchildren Alayna, Ivee Lynne, Saige, Hendrix, Dylan, T.J., and Tucker. She loved being part of their lives. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Paul Herring, Jr. (Crystal); her nephews Kyle and Kevin, and she also shared lifelong closeness with her cousins, Susan Tanner (Jeannie) and Steve Lawrence (Susan), who held special places in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will hold a small gathering at her home to celebrate her life and share memories together at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tri-County Animal Shelter (https:checkout.shelterluv.com/donate/TCNC), 138 Icaria Road, Tyner, NC 27980in honor of her compassion for animals.
Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by her parents and the beauty she cherished.
