Carolyn Fentress "Sue" Austin

Carolyn "Sue" Fentress Austin, age 83, of The Villages, FL, died at Sumter Senior Living on Saturday, November 1, 2025. She was born in Virginia Beach, VA, on January 14, 1942, to the late William Fentress and Adell Brumley Fentress, and was the wife of Donald Spencer Austin. Sue was a secretary with civil service until her retirement. She was a member of Knotts Island United Methodist Church and National Ruritan Club.
Sue is survived by her husband, Donald; a daughter, Wendy Dawn Burgett (Rocky); a son, Spencer P. Austin (Marlith); and four grandchildren, Kyle (Christy) and Shane Burgett (Sara), and Spencer and Mahalee Austin. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Daniel Spencer Austin; a sister, Judy Jarman; and a brother, Billy Fentress.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Knotts Island United Methodist Church, 677 Knotts Island Road, Knotts Island, NC 27950, with Pastor Katie Rolka and the Rev. Frank Jennings officiating. Burial will be at Knotts Island Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sue's name to Knotts Island United Methodist Church or Knotts Island Cemetery, 129 Wards Road, Knotts Island, NC 27950.
