Mildred Corrine Groce Little, a native of Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024, in Lawrenceville, GA. She was 99 years old. Mildred was the cherished widow of George Robert Little, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.
She was born on November 8, 1924 to the late Joseph Cornelius Groce and Corrie Etta Griffin Groce. Mildred was predeceased by four brothers, three sisters, and her son-in-law, Hugh Leland Harrelson Sr. She is survived by her sister, Doris Groce Davenport of Mansfield, Texas.
A graduate of Fairforest High School, Mildred retired from Europco Management Company after 17 years of service in commercial and apartment management. Her passion for music and her church community was evident through her involvement with the Shadetree Musicians and her many years as a children's Sunday School teacher and faithful volunteer at Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg.
Mildred's legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her two daughters, Eleanor Little Harrelson of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Mindy Little Surls and her husband David of Lawrenceville, GA. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Hugh Leland Harrelson, Jr. (Amy) of Fort Mill, SC; Maxine Harrelson Flanagan (Keith) of Greenville, NC; Joseph Fitzhugh Harrelson (Amy-Claire) of Charleston, SC; Jonathan David Surls (Sarah) of Brookhaven, GA; Rachel Surls Carter (James) of Athens, GA; and Matthew Joseph Surls (Julianne) of Seattle, WA. Mildred was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, South Carolina, 29307.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Southside Baptist Church, at 316 S. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC, 29306.
