Mildred Louise May, age 99, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by her beloved family.
Mildred was a devoted housewife whose greatest joy came from caring for her home, tending to her garden, and keeping her lawn beautiful. A loving and selfless woman, she poured her heart into her family and was especially devoted to her son and to all those she considered her own. Known affectionately as a second mother to many, she shared her love freely with her nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She was cherished not only for her warmth and kindness, but also for her cooking-her chocolate pies, in particular, became a family favorite and a symbol of her nurturing spirit. Mildred was a devout Christian who loved the Lord deeply and lived her faith through her actions every day. She was a devout and faithful member of Liberty Road Community Church.
She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, who will continue to cherish her memory and honor her legacy of love, faith, and family. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard May; her beloved son, Donald May; her parents, Everett and Myrtle Centers; her sisters, Geneva Centers Ledford and Mae Centers; and her brother, Marvin Centers.
A funeral service celebrating Mildred's life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky, 40507, with Elder John May officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Bourbon County.
Mildred's legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
