Mildred Jean "Millie" Sage, age 85, of Osseo, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at her home. She was born on January 27, 1938, in Hillsdale, to Henry and Cora (Woodard) Champion. Millie married Richard "Dick" Sage on February 7, 1958, and he survives.
Millie graduated from Portage High School in 1956. She loved to volunteer her time to various endeavors including being a teacher's aide for the Brighton School District, Crossroads Farm, and various church organizations. Millie was a very crafty and talented woman who loved sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and singing in the church choir at Bankers Baptist Church where she was a member for many years.
In addition to her husband, Millie is survived by three children, Geri Peterson of Osseo, Scott (Luann) Sage of Glennie, Michigan, and Bonnie (Steven) King of Ferndale; nine grandchildren, Kristina, Carl, Meghann, Wesley, Amanda, Shannon, Colleen, Richard, and George; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three sisters, Kathy Larson, Christina (Tom) Siwik, and Ruth (Alan) Kyser.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren, and one brother, Roger Champion.
Funeral services for Millie Sage will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Bankers Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Dengler officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. A private family interment will take place at Bankers Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bankers Baptist Church or Crossroads Farm.
