Mildred Smith

Mildred Fern (Medford) Smith went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the age of 95. Millie was born May 12, 1929 to Erskin Lynn Medford, Sr. and Anna Cude Medford in Mustang, Oklahoma. She graduated as a Valedictorian of Mustang High School in 1947. She attended Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater, now Oklahoma State University, for two years before attending business school. Millie then worked in the oil and gas industry for forty years.
An avid sports fan, Millie could often be found watching two televisions in order to keep up with two games at once. She had a special love for the OU Sooners and the OKC Thunder but could discuss most any team. She was an outstanding bowler participating in league bowling for many years, and she enjoyed playing basketball in her high school and college years. She was an accomplished Bridge player and loved all kinds of puzzles. She was even known as "Grandma Puzzle" to some of her great grandchildren. Millie was funny, with a quick wit and is also remembered for her cooking skills, particularly her pot roast with gravy and chocolate cake.
Millie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years Billy Mitchell Smith, two sons Bruce and Eric, three grandsons Aaron, Jared and Blake, and two siblings Erskin Lynn Medford, Jr. and Kathleen Medford Johnson.
She is survived by her son Joe (Carol) Smith of Mustang, four granddaughters Christi, Amber, Amy and Traleika, twelve great grandchildren, one great great grandson, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers from Cura-HPC Hospice and Palliative Care and Arbor House of Mustang. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Mustang Memorial Scholarship or any sweepstakes that arrives in your mailbox.
Services will be held at 10am Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at McNeil's Funeral Service, Mustang, OK with interment following in Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, OK.
