Mildred Fae "Millie" Sielaff Travis, age 99, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026 just two weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Born March 5, 1926 in
Boise, Idaho, she lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories of the community she proudly called home.
Millie was first married to Ronald B Lester, with whom she shared three children: Linda L Lester-Moody, Bruce R Lester, and Barton E Lester (wife Linda). Following their divorce in 1966, she later married Bill J Travis, her beloved husband and partner in life and business.
She was a proud grandmother to Troy B Lester and Zachary R Lester (wife Kendall), and a loving step grandmother to Ellen Moody Bennett (husband James), Robert S Leslie, Jason L Bantz (wife Jennifer), and Joshua L Bantz. Her legacy continues through her two great-grandchildren as well as nine step-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband Bill J Travis, Ronald B Lester, Dave Moody (son-in-law), and all her brothers and sisters. Millie lived life with energy and enthusiasm. She had a passion for sport car rallies and enjoyed gambling trips to Jack Pot. Her hobbies included roller skating early in life, horseshoe pitching, crocheting intricate designs, avid reading, fishing, walking, bowling, and playing cards around the dining room table with family and friends. She also delighted in delivering new cars with her husband for Lithia Ford of Boise - a unique endeavor that combined her love of driving with her adventurous spirit. Throughout her life, Millie held a variety of jobs that reflected her strong independent nature.
These included her first job working for Frank's Roller Rink in downtown Boise and Gowen Field. During this time, she and Ron brought roller skating to the Star and Ustick area, transporting skates in a bright, eye stopping pink panel vehicle so children could learn to skate. They also started The Garden Roller Bowl in Garden City, an outdoor summer rink with a concrete floor. During her life she also worked at Idaho Camera, served as a telephone switchboard operator for Mountain Bell, and contributed her talents at Skaggs Drug Store.
Later in life, she and her husband Bill owned and operated Petal Pushers Bike Shop, a business that reflected their shared entrepreneurial spirit. Millie lived nearly a century filled with family, hard work, and adventure. In 1976 she and husband Bill had a distinctive round log house built that became their home and sanctuary. This home remained Millie's residence until her passing - creating a warm and welcoming place filled with memories, laughter, and family gatherings. Millie's kindness left an indelible mark on those who knew her. She loved everyone and touched lives with her smile and warmth. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unwavering zest for life. Her long life stands as a testament to perseverance, love and living fully. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May her memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Millie's life at an open house gathering on Saturday,
March 7th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at her home at 11 Ruby Street, Boise
