Mildred "Millie" Ann Vance, lovingly known as the neighborhood mom and the wacky grandmother everyone adored, passed away on January 13, 2026.
Millie was born on November 2, 1948, and was lovingly adopted on July 7, 1949, by Roy L. and Mabelle (Woodring) Pearson, who cherished her dearly. In 1967, she married the love of her life, Dave Vance, and together they raised two beautiful children, building a home filled with love, laughter, and tradition.
A devoted and enthusiastic supporter of her grandchildren, Millie could often be found cheering from the sidelines at horse shows and basketball games. She especially delighted in making homemade Christmas ornaments, and one of her family's most treasured traditions was enjoying Millie's homemade pizzas every Christmas Eve-a tradition that will live on in their hearts.
Millie was a wonderful homemaker and also spent several years working aboard the Michigan Princess Riverboat alongside her dear friend, Elizabeth. She enjoyed her time working at Amy's Catering. A talented seamstress, Millie took great pride in creating quilts along with Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, each stitched with care and love.
Though widely known for her fun-loving, wacky spirit, Millie's greatest joy was her grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. She will be deeply missed by her big sister, Carol Christmas, whose favorite lifetime role was lovingly caring for Millie.
Millie is survived by her daughter, Amy (Martin) Ramos; her son, Alan Vance; her grandchildren, Jessie (Nathan) Graff and Cameron Ramos; her sister, Carol Christmas; her sister-in-law, Virginia (James) Hannahs; and her brother-in-law, Daniel Vance; and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David A. Vance; parents, Roy L and Mabelle Pearson; brother-in-law, Wesley Christmas; and in-laws, Kenneth and Carol Vance.
Millie's warmth, humor, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always, and her legacy of kindness, tradition, and joyful chaos will continue through all who knew and loved her.
