Mildred Clarence Sudberry Vincent, age 96, of Shelbyville, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at her home.
She was born on October 1, 1929, in Shelbyville, TN, to the late Clarence Ellis and Sadie Ruth Smotherman Sudberry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Hall Vincent; sons, Clarence E. Vincent and Robert Vincent; sisters, Hazel Yarbrough, Evelyn Warinner, Katherine Lambert, and Linda Sudberry; brother, Rufus Sudberry; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mildred is survived by her children, Ollie Eugene Vincent, Sylvia (Jimmy) Mickells, Daniel Vincent, Donald Vincent, and Carl Vincent; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and her sister, Jane Jackson.
She attended Longview School and completed her studies through the eighth grade. Mildred's working career included time at Fly's Manufacturing in Shelbyville, Serbin Manufacturing in Fayetteville, TN, and Empire Pencil Company, from which she retired in 1994. Even after retirement, she enjoyed working a few part-time jobs just to stay busy. She loved going to weekend yard sales and tending to her flower garden, especially her chrysanthemums and African violets. Her greatest joy was her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Jimmy Mickells officiating. Burial will follow in Pressgrove Cemetery in Bell Buckle, TN.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial donations can be made to the Shelbyville-Bedford County Humane Association online at www.shelbyvillebedfordhumane.org or by mail P.O. Box 391, Shelbyville, TN 37162.
