Mildred Wallace Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dowdy-Marker Funeral Home on Dec. 19, 2025.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the Haskell Cemetery, Haskell, Oklahoma. There will not be a visitation held.
Faye Wallace, age 93, passed away peacefully at home in Norman, Oklahoma on December 16, 2025, surrounded by members of her family.
She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Wallace, and her daughter, Margo Wallace; She is survived by Frank, her loving husband of 75 years; her son Stan (Lori) Wallace; three grandchildren, Joshua Clark, Gwen Wallace, and Rachel (Pablo) Retana; seven great-grandchildren, Mason Wallace, Chandler and Braxton Clark, Asher Davis, Zavier Clark and Milo and Felix Retana, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was born and raised in Haskell, OK, the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters. As the youngest of ten, she was closer in age to her nieces and nephews than her siblings and she developed close relationships with many of them. She graduated from Haskell High School in 1948. When the love of her life, Frank Wallace, was mobilized during the Korean War, she followed him to Junction City, Kansas, where they were married at the jailhouse on October 7, 1950. They had a stillborn son, Terry Allen, while Frank was in Korea. After Frank returned, they lived in Haskell for several years before moving to Tulsa, OK. In Tulsa, another son, Stan, was born. They then moved to Oklahoma City where they subsequently had a daughter, Margo. They briefly relocated to Tulsa before moving to Norman. They built a house in the country where they remained for the rest of her life.
She adored and was adored by her grandchildren Gwen, Rachel, and Joshua who loved to come stay with Nanny and Papaw on the farm. She loved living in the country and was adamant about staying at home when her health declined. She enjoyed the daily Jumble in the newspaper, John Grisham novels, the Bold and the Beautiful and would not miss Wheel of Fortune.
She was supported in her declining years by her numerous nieces, nephews, and kind neighbors. The family would like to extend special thanks to her niece, Gail Schoonover, her husband Pat Schoonover, and Betty Jacques for the care they provided during her final illness. She was a long time member of the Alameda Church of Christ in Norman and when she could no longer attend the services she would participate in the services on line.
When asked how she wanted to be remembered she said that she wanted to be remembered as a loving person; she was certainly successful. She will be missed.

Fondest memories of beloved Aunt Faye.
Named after her.
My Great Grandaughter named after also.

Always knew Uncle Frank was around.
The looks they gave each other. .
Both so kind.
Quite a legacy to carry.
Rest In Peace.

Love. prayers.

Faye was my dear friend and I´ll surely miss her. We enjoyed shopping and sneaking Cokes into the movies together. She and Frank were always there for me any time I needed help.
