With profound sadness, we bid farewell to Mildred F. Williams, a pillar of love and strength who graced this world with her presence on October 14, 1936, in Fairview, NC, and departed to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 1, 2024. Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Charley E. Williams; daughters: Rosemary Armstrong (Ricky) and Josephine Braddy; and grandson, Jason Armstrong. She is survived by her loving daughters: Cynthia Pace (Ray) and Charlene Adams (George); and her former son-in-law, Phillip Braddy. Her grandchildren include: Eugene Carter, April Mull, Sandy Clark, Cecilia Armstrong, Amanda Williams, Carrie Adams, and Crystal Sekula. She has lots of great-grandchildren and many great, great-grandchildren.
Mildred was full of compassion, integrity, and perseverance. Her infectious smile would illuminate every room she entered, like a beacon of light on a dark night. In her early years, she worked right alongside her husband doing construction and when she had free time, she loved working in the garden. Mildred also had a passion for flowers and birdwatching. As a devoted member of Stoney Mountain Baptist Church, Mildred's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Through her telephone ministry, she extended comfort and solace to those unable to join and worship, embodying the essence of selfless service and compassion.
Her departure leaves a void impossible to fill, yet her legacy of kindness and grace will endure, a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mildred is reunited with her beloved husband, two daughters, her parents, grandson, and seven siblings. Though she may have bid us farewell, her memory lives on in the hearts of those who cherished her. As we mourn her passing, let us celebrate the extraordinary life of Mildred F. Williams, a beacon of love, whose light will forever illuminate our souls.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Stoney Mountain Baptist Church, with the Rev. Thomas Holbrooks and Rev. Charles Rogers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1 Chapel of Faith Drive, Candler, NC 28715.
