Just as the Almighty would have it, we were gifted with an amazing mother born at the height of Fall on a calm, cool and beautiful day. Mildred Faye Manning was born on October 4, 1945 in Bay City, Texas, to Lee Edward Manning and Emeolia Manning. Mildred grew up in Bay City, Texas. She attended Hilliard High School, an all-black school, there she received her high school diploma, in 1958. On September 6, 1963, Mildred was united in Holy Matrimony and remained married for 58 years to the love of her life, Reverend James Williams (deceased). She was a devoted wife to her husband. Four beautiful children were born to this union. Sister Mildred, began her spiritual journey at an early age when she was baptized at Mother Zion Baptist Church in Bay City. She and her husband loved and respected teaching the Word of God. In 1994, they joined Bethel Baptist Church of Freeport, Texas under the leadership of Bishop Milton White. In 2000 they joined Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ward Woodard. In 2001 God lead them to True Honor where she served as First Lady. In 2004, Sister Mildred and her husband (Reverend Williams) started church in his home and God quickly lead them to a building which they renovated, equipped and founded the Free Spirit Worship Center. On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Sister Mildred wrote the final chapter of her Earthly life and received her Heavenly wings. She was preceded in death by her, father, Lee Edward Manning, her mother, Emeolia Manning, her son, Timothy Leroy Williams, her brothers, David Ross, Arthur Ross, George Ross and her sister Rhonda Scott. Sister Mildred, loved her church and loved her Lord. "Happy are the people whose God is the Lord." Psalm 144:15. will be remembered as a woman of strong faith, a devout Christian, a dedicated wife, loving mother, caring grandmother, well loved sister and loyal friend. As she transitioned from labor to reward, she leaves to cherish her memories to her, daughters, Teresa Myers, and Alesia Davis (Paul); her son, 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; her brothers, and sisters, James Ross, Joyce Simpson (Rufus), Richard John Manning, (Phyllis), Tony Manning (Nell), Van Manning (Pam), Avia Manning, David Manning, Lee; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
