St. Paul, Va.-Millard Ralph Sluss, 71, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Coeburn, Va., and lived most of his life in St. Paul. He was a coal miner for Hosanna Faith Mining Co. He was loved dearly by his family and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Goldie (Lawson) Sluss; brothers, Arthur Sluss, Johnny Sluss, C. W. Sluss, Doug Lawson and Cecil Sluss; and sisters, Christine Horsley, Sue Jackson, Shirley Neal and Loretta Robinette.
Surviving are his step-son, Daniel Lell (fiancé, Kaitlin Wright); step-daughter, Beth Browning (Jonathan), both of St. Paul, Va.; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; brother, Danny Bruce Sluss (Betty), Big Stone Gap, Va.; sisters, Doris Salyers, Coeburn, Va. and Emogene Creed of Michigan; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his step-children, Sherry.
The family would like to thank Caris Hospice for their care during Mr. Sluss' illness.
Mr. Sluss requested that he be cremated and no formal services.
