Duffield, VA-Silas "Zeke" Qualls, 78, of the Purchase Ridge Community passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.
A lifelong resident of the Purchase Ridge Community of Scott County, he was a professor of Electrical Education at Mountain Empire Community College, with 34 years of service. Silas, affectionately known as "Zeke" to many, loved hunting and fishing. He was a preacher at the Purchase Ridge Baptist Church for many years. Silas was a loving and caring family man.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Janice (Griffin) Qualls; son, Paul Qualls; and his parents, Viola and J. D. Qualls.
Surviving are his daughter, Pamela Maness (Ricky Stowe), Mt. Carmel, TN; three grandchildren, Corey Maness (fiancé, Harlee Watlington), Payton Qualls (Caitlyn Frazier) and Jasmine Maness (fiancé, Josh Williams); one great granddaughter, Harlen Maness; siblings, Frank Qualls (Darlene) and Ronnie Qualls, both of Duffield, VA, Judy Qualls, Abingdon, VA, Sue Thompson of Florida, Evelyn Rhoton (Butch), Kingsport, TN, Jimmy Qualls, Duffield, VA and Betty Vanzant, Yuma, VA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements will be private.
