Oconto, NE- Milrae K. Dittmar, age 82 of Oconto, died Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the CHI Health/Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Oconto Community Center with Pastor Ryan Findley officiating. Burial will be in the Oconto Cemetery. A visitation with family and receiving friends will be held on Tuesday 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Oconto Community Center. Memorials are suggested to the Oconto EMT. Milrae was born on August 26, 1943, at Broken Bow, NE, to Isaac and Ada (Martin) Mason. Milrae grew up in Oconto and graduated from Oconto High School in 1961. She was married to Darl “Butch” Dittmar later that year, on October 15, 1961. The couple lived in North Platte for a few years before returning to Oconto. Milrae worked at the Callaway District Hospital as a nurse’s aide and was also an EMT for many years. She babysat the neighbors’ children while raising her own family. Milrae later worked for the Farmers’ Bank at Oconto for 24 years until her retirement.
Milrae was a member of the Oconto United Methodist Church and was very active in the Oconto Community. She had many hobbies, including crocheting, quilting, knitting, making barn quilts, and baking. Just a few years ago, Milrae made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She also made wedding cakes. Milrae loved to have a garden and do canning. She enjoyed making wonderful meals and hosting her entire family. There was always enough food to feed an army.
Milrae is survived by her husband Butch of Oconto, her children; Olinda (Brian) Berg of Oconto, Kent Dittmar of Oconto, Brian (Susan) Dittmar of Sumner, Brent (Brenda) Dittmar of Oconto, and Justin (Brandi)Dittmar of Sumner, Ten grandchildren; Kyle Berg, Kurt Berg, Cerina Carlson, Elizabeth Romero, Stetson Dittmar, Mikayla Heath, Kasie Bostock, Lindsey Dittmar, Bailey Dittmar and Gatlin Dittmar, and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Isla (Dwight) Royle of Amherst, and brother Keith (Cherilyn) Mason of Litchfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Deloris Neth, and two brothers, Marvin and Gene Mason.
