Our beloved Milton Eugene Grant.
Milton Eugene Grant, born on July 27, 1938, in Mexico, Missouri, was the fourth of six children to Raymond and Gladys Grant. At the age of seven, Milton moved to Akron, Ohio, where he later graduated from the Old South High School in 1958. He was a proud father to three children: Yvette, Carla, and Garland.
On October 19, 2025, Milton passed away peacefully with his daughter Carla by his side. To know Milton was to know joy. His booming voice, infectious laughter, and endless storytelling brought light to every room he entered. If you knew Milton, chances are you have a story of your own that he shared one that still brings a smile.
Milton dedicated 39 years of service to the VA Medical Center in Brecksville, retiring in 2003. Prior to that, he worked at the Richfield Coliseum. Outside of work, Milton found joy in bowling, a passion he pursued for over 30 years on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. He also loved roller skating in Akron and Kent with his brother Donald.
A true card enthusiast, Milton enjoyed playing Bid Whist, Gin Rummy, and Spades. But above all, he cherished time with his family - especially his children and grandchildren. He formed lifelong friendships and had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Milton never met a stranger, and his presence was a staple at every family gathering, especially during the beloved "five golden rings" moment at Christmas Eve celebrations.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Clarence and Donald Grant; sisters Geraldine Woodson and Janice Strode; children Garland and Yvette; niece Lorri Grant Hallman; nephew Michael A. Grant; and special cousin Ira Alderson.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his devoted daughter and caretaker Carla (Michael) Pitts; grandchildren DeLamon, Bryan, Takia, and Trevonte; sister Carol Hubbard; sister-in-law Dionne Grant; brother-in-law Emmitt Strode; 32 great-grandchildren: 5 great-great-grandchildren; special cousin Betty Barnett of Kansas City, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends including his beloved dog Austin, and dear friends Lance Taylor, Larry Brown, Jerry Walker, Liz Holt, Tracy Oliver, Ellen Wagner, and Carl "CJ" Elkins who helped care for him.
Milton's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will never be forgotten.
