In Loving Memory of Miltona Christine Denny
Miltona Christine Denny, lovingly known as Christine, peacefully passed away on January 14, 2024, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, at the age of 51. Born on May 30, 1972, in Claremore, Oklahoma, Christine was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and devotion that will forever be remembered.
Christine spent her childhood in Okmulgee before moving to Glenpool and then completed her last two years of high school at Okmulgee High School. She went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater with a Bachelor's degree and further pursued her academic endeavors, obtaining a Master's degree in Tribal Law from the University of Tulsa.
As an educator within the Comanche Nation in Lawton, Christine dedicated her career to empowering and uplifting Native American communities. She tirelessly worked for various nations, including the Muscogee, Iowa, Cheyenne, and Arapaho, leaving a remarkable impact on countless lives in her path.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Christine had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed participating in weekend sports activities, particularly volleyball and softball. She often reminisced about the cherished moments spent playing volleyball on the sunny beaches of Oklahoma. Christine also took pride in being an active member of the Alpha Pi Omega Sorority - Gamma Chapter, the country's oldest and largest Indigenous Greek letter organization.
Christine leaves behind her son, Morgan Pascale. She is also survived by her father, Milton Denny Sr., her brothers Milt (Charlie) Denny Jr. and wife Rachel and Matthew Denny, and a cherished extended family.
Christine's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter will be dearly missed by her nieces, Brittany and Charlie Christine Harjo, Daelyn Denny, Teigan Denny, Morgana, Kierstan, and Matthias Denny, and Marlon and Makisha Denny. She was a proud great aunt to Lily, Kiki, and Graeme, who brought immense joy to her life.
Christine was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Rev. Elliott and Cora Leitka, her paternal grandmother, Philippi Begay, her mother, Loretta Denny, her sister, Margie Dawn Denny-Wallin, her brother, Morgan Denny Sr., and her nephew, Morgan Denny Jr.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, let us celebrate the profound impact Christine had on our lives.
A wake service to honor and celebrate Christine's life will be held on January 18, 2024, at 6:00 pm at the Schaudt Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service.
