Minerva's favorite Bible Verse: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future with hope." Jeremiah 29:11

Minerva Haugabrooks, née Barrett, born in 1955, was the third of five children to Denzil and Icilyn Barrett. Love was a guiding force throughout her life, carrying her from a young age as she journeyed with her Lord. Known for her friendliness and warmth, she was a lively participant in her childhood community and church. In her formative years, Minerva attended Salt Spring All-Age School and earned a scholarship to Montego Bay High School. After high school, she dedicated a year to teaching secondary courses at Harrison Memorial High School before moving to the United States in 1975 to attend Andrews University.

After she graduated in 1979 with a BSD in Nutrition and Dietetics, she relocated to Orlando, Florida, where she met and married her lifelong love and dear friend, Charles Haugabrooks in 1980. Together, they raised three children: Sherrard Abdul, Ezra Charles, and Esther Marie. In addition to her duties as a family woman, she pursued higher education, earning a Master of Science in Health Science from the University of Central Florida and a doctorate in Public Health from Walden University.

Minerva's life was a testament to her faith. She was a Renaissance woman-a devoted wife, supportive mother, lifelong learner, and businesswoman. In her early carrier as a young mother, she ran her own consulting firm. She later became a college professor while actively participating in various nutrition professional societies. Throughout her career, Minerva also remained committed to service to her church and community. She was a dedicated member and elder at Mt. Olive Seventh-day Adventist Church of Apopka, FL.

Minerva embodied the spirit of lifelong learning, continually seeking knowledge and growth. Her love for God, family, plants, sunsets, travel, and food reflected a woman who cherished life's simple pleasures. Her gentle spirit and keen observations made her a trusted friend and loyal wife. Her radiant smile and unwavering faith in God touched many lives. She will be dearly missed but forever remain in our hearts. Her legacy of love, faith, and learning continues to inspire us.

Minerva leaves behind her husband, children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear friends and church family.

Rest in Peace.

Sister Haugabrook was so giving of her time and talents. I especially remember attending women's meetings at her lovely home and going on women's retreats she organized! May you be comforted and know that many thoughts are with you.

So sorry for your loss. With the beautiful opportunity of sharing the Spirit of Prophecy bible study featuring The Great Controversy with you Charles Haugabrooks I am certain Minerva had a wonderful life with you and the family praising God striving to obey the ten commandments and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Minerva is sleeping peacefully awaiting our Lord and Savior second coming. I am sure you and the family will greatly miss her. She is no longer in pain or discomfort. Hold on to God´s unchanging hand tight as this world come to an end. For He is our Rock and anchor through the Storm. I have great love in my heart and admiration for you. You have been a good teacher, friend, brother, husband, provider, listener, protector for Minerva as well as the family. Don´t give in, give up or give out! No matter what. I will continue to lift you and your family in prayer. Please continue to pray for me and my family.

Dr. Minerva had a heart for students, wanting to promote them to achieve their dreams. Working with her as volunteers for NOBIDAN taught me grace, patience and care for the lasting attributes of life. I think of her often. I pray for your family as you adjust to her physical absence and increasingly value your gift of time with her.
