Minnie Clora (Coye) Bird
Our lovely mother and mamaw, Coye Bird (93), passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025 in Farmington, NM. She was born on December 13, 1931 in Eastland, TX to Richard and Ollie Eaves. The Eaves family later relocated to Eunice, NM, where Coye would go on to graduate from high school. Shortly after she would meet the love of her life, Ralph Bird, and the two were married on August 2, 1953. A few years later the Birds migrated to Farmington where they built and lived in their forever nest.
After several years devoted to raising her three children, Vicki, Michael, and Mark, Coye began her professional career at Shell Oil Company. She later joined State Farm where she worked faithfully until her retirement. She retired to spend more time with her beloved, Ralph. Together they enjoyed travelling and making memories with their children and grandchildren at their cabin.
Coye was a master canner of all fruits and vegetables. Her chokecherry jam, meatloaf, and buttermilk pies will go down in history as the greatest of all time in her family's eyes. Coye, better known as mamaw to her grandchildren, was the epitome of what a grandma should be. Her door was always open. She was kind, gentle, generous, and gave the best back scratches. A visit with mamaw always left us feeling lighter, more at peace than when we arrived-like her presence had a way of calming the storms we did not know we were carrying. While mamaw's passing has left a void in all of our lives, there is solace knowing she is reunited with our papa and uncle Mike.
Coye is preceded in death by her husband of over sixty years, Ralph. Her son, Michael, and sisters Myrtle Martin and Ruby Cummings. She is survived by her daughter Vicki Ulibarri (Mark David) and son, Mark Bird. Her grandchildren, Summer King (Jared), Amanda Quintana (Brandon), Shea Ulibarri (Thalia), Caitlyn Sandoval (Bryan), Sean Ulibarri (Emily), Rodney Bird (Brittany), Mac Ulibarri, and Adam Lopez (Shannon). 17 great grandchildren. Her brothers, William Eaves, Dickey Eaves, and Buddy Eaves. Her sister, Odene Savage, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetary is scheduled for Friday, August 1, 2025 at 10:00am. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Shea Ulibarri, Sean Ulibarri, Rodney Bird, Mac Ulibarri, Adam Lopez, and Jared King. Honorary pallbearers are Bryce Sandoval, Madden King, Jack King, Easten Gibbs, Lincoln Bird, Ashton Bird, Bryan Sandoval, and Brandon Quintana.
