Minnie Louise Walker, age 87, passed away on November 10, 2025, in Edison, New Jersey.

She was born in Camden, South Carolina to the late Robert Workman and Edith Dennis. After completing her schooling in South Carolina, Minnie moved to Brooklyn, New York where she worked for the Southern Bell/Verizon telephone company. She retired from there as a supervisor at the age of 55.

After retirement she enrolled in a ceramics class where she loved to create art projects by hand - she shared this gift for many years with the seniors at the NYCHA Senior Center. She also loved crocheting blankets. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Minnie found joy in phone calls with her loved ones, especially with her grandchildren, and most of all, with her sisters Edith and Sara with whom she would spend hours talking and laughing.

She was a woman of God! She shared her wisdom and knowledge of His greatness with those in her life.

Minnie was married to Richard L. Walker and widowed to the late Ellis Wood. She is predeceased by her brothers Frederick, George, and James Workman.

She is survived by her two sons, Ellis Lovelle Wood of Brooklyn, NY and Gary Rene Wood of West Haven, Connecticut, her step-son Perry Rogers (Shawanda) of Glenn Allen, Virginia, her brothers Robert and Abraham Workman, both of Bridgeport, CT, sisters Mary Workman-Enoch and Edith Workman-Smith, both of Greensboro, North Carolina, Helen Workman-Gaye of Orlando, Florida, and Sara Workman-Nanton of Phoenix, Arizona, and her goddaughter Darlene A. Ball, of Milford, CT. Minnie also leaves behind her loving grandchildren: Frankie, Saki, Suga, Tuffy, Courtney, Elijah, Alicia, Fatima, Shanell, Chaneka, Ramell, Rashad, Ameer, Amisa, Amari, and Mayah; her step-grandchildren: Bryonna, Iyanna and Tristen; more than ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, wonderful personality and joyful spirit. Just being in her presence brought happiness, fun and laughter. Minnie will be truly missed by all who were blessed to be a part of her life.
