Mira Compton Andrade, of
Alexandria, VA, passed away from a drug overdose on October 14, 2025, at the young age of 19. Born in Fairfax, Virginia, on February 12, 2006, to proud parents Vernon Michael Andrade and Kayce Reed Compton, Mira's life was marked by her vibrant spirit and her passionate advocacy for the rights of others.
Mira was the cherished daughter of Vernon Michael Andrade and Kayce Reed Compton, a sister to Ari Compton Andrade, and a beloved granddaughter to Edwin and Merlyn Andrade, Karen Compton and Mary Lou Cambron, and Patrick Compton and Yolanda Rincon. Her extended family, including her aunts and uncles-Kourtney (Michael) Keen, Elwin (Kiran) Andrade, Merwyn Andrade (Debbie), Maureen (Gerard) Devas, Shireen (Julian) Pais-and cousins Lucy Keen, Rahul and Zubin Andrade, Nina, Neil, and Alex Devas, Luke and Jasmin Pais, will forever treasure the memories and moments shared with Mira.
A graduate of Alexandria City High School in 2024, Mira was in her second year at Virginia Commonwealth University, passionately pursuing a degree in pharmacology. Her academic excellence was a testament to her dedication and her insatiable appetite for knowledge.
Mira's interests were as diverse as they were profound. An ardent lover of cats, she shared her home and heart with her two feline companions, Cookie and Leo. Her fascination with computers and construction sites led her to many adventures, exploring the intricacies of both digital and physical landscapes. Research was not just a pastime for Mira; it was a way of life. She approached every topic with meticulous attention, whether it was delving into the latest pharmacological studies or finding the best sushi spots, and wanted to share every detail of everything with everyone.
Above all, Mira was a fierce advocate for transgender rights. Her advocacy was not just rooted in passion but also in a deep sense of justice and equality. She lived proudly, stood firmly for what she believed in, and her voice became a beacon of hope for many in the transgender community. Her family could not have been prouder of her or loved her more.
As we mourn Mira's departure from this world, we also celebrate the incredible impact she made in her 19 years. Her legacy is one of love, learning, and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Mira's life was a tapestry of rich relationships, intellectual pursuits, and a deep compassion for all living beings.

A celebration of life will be held at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in
Alexandria, VA on Sunday, October 19th at 1:00 pm.
