Miriam (Balensiefer) Budreau Obituary

Miriam Pearl (Balensiefer) Budreau, 86, formerly of Fowler, Indiana, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025 at Autumn Fields Adult Community in Hoopeston, Illinois.

Miriam was born on May 15, 1939 in Fowler, to the late Joseph and Martha (Ringle) Balensiefer. She was a cook at Fowler Elementary School for 32 years and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fowler, Indiana. On January 6, 1962, Miriam married the late Donald Budreau at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Miriam loved cooking, playing cards, and spending time with her family, especially her sisters, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her children: John Budreau (fiance, Kelly Thompson) and Brenda Mowrey; five grandchildren: Jacob (wife, Marley) Budreau, Sarah Budreau, and Cody, Caley, and Cassidy Mowrey; and great grandchildren, Jaxon and Poppy Budreau. She is also survived by four siblings; Dave Balensiefer, Joye Brock, Frank (Laura) Balensiefer, and Kathleen Bates; one brother-in-law, Earl Estes; and one sister-in-law, Myrt Balensiefer; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Joan Estes, Betty Schutter, Shirley Grauel; and three brothers: Eugene “Gene” Balensiefer, Stephen Balensiefer, and Richard Balensiefer; one sister-in-law: Mary Ellen Balensiefer; three brothers-in-law: Richard Grauel, Everett “Bud” Brock, and George Bates; and one grandson: Caleb James Mowrey.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 at the funeral home from 5pm-7pm with the Holy Rosary at prior at 4:45pm (EST). Funeral Mass of the Eucharist will be celebrated Saturday, 9, 2025 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fowler, IN, and interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fowler, Indiana with Fr. Sean Aaron officiating.
