Miriam F "Mimi" Selig

Miriam F. Selig, "Mimi", passed away peacefully April 19, 2025, comforted by family at her home in St. Augustine, Fl. Surviving her are three generations- son Jerry Selig and wife Patti of Ocean City, Md.; daughters Karen Selig and husband Jack Merwin of St., Augustine, Fl., and Bryna Selig and husband Keith Robinson of Urbana, Md., 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Mimi was predeceased by her beloved husband, Murray Weiss and a dear companion, Al deToledo.
As a highly respected professional, Mimi was the first licensed female Real Estate Broker in Maryland. She ran Mimi Selig Homes, Inc. an ERA franchise, for 25 years until her retirement. Mimi's firm was known and respected throughout her career for her ethics, values, leadership, mentorship and community contributions. She was recognized as one of the TOP 5 ERA franchises in the country as well as the first to advocate for the Voluntary Affirmative Marketing Agreement between Realtors and the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development. Mimi was among the early female members and leaders of the Rockville, Gaithersburg and Montgomery County Chambers of Commerce. She also served as a trustee for the Montgomery College Board of Trustees.
Mimi loved to travel, particularly with her family, and they ventured to many places that provided special memories for all. She was an active volunteer and donor to many organizations throughout her life, including Boy Scouts of America. MDA. The Halsey Air and Space Museum and United Way. Her life reminds us of the enduring power of kindness, justice and human spirit.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to Temple Bat Yam in St. Augustine, Fl and Temple Bet Yam in Berlin, Md. Burial will take place in a private ceremony in Hawthorne, New York. The family will be sitting shiva at her home in St. Augustine following her burial in New York.
