He was born in San Marcos, TX on December 1, 1942 to Carlos Samaniego and Eva Villalpando Samaniego. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margarita DeLuna Samaniego. His son Mitchell Samaniego and daughter-in-law Celeste Erman Samaniego.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Donna DeLeon and son-in-law Reymundo DeLeon. Sisters Nelda Capetillo and Nelfa Vasquez, brothers Elisa Samaniego, Elisardo "Lalo" Samaniego and has one surviving sister Diana Samaniego. Misael had three grandchildren Dolores Evans (husband Brad Evans). Elena DeLeon Peralez (husband Samuel Peralez, Jr.) and Reymundo Paul DeLeon, Jr. Great-grandchildren are Isaiah Charles Evans, Gabriella Marie Evans, Xavier Angel DeLeon, Cristian Daniel Calderon, Aubrey Genea DeLeon, Ayden Rey DeLeon, Amaya Reylynn DeLeon and Alijah-James Paul Hernandez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Misael served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 30 years, retiring in December 1991 at the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. He is a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War and served in Operation Desert Storm.
Misael completes his journey of life with love for his family and friends, compassion for others and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and many others whose lives were touched by his presence. We shall not remember him for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived which had a profound impact on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Private viewing for immediate family will be held on March 14, at Thomason Funeral Home staring at 300pm to 400pm. Followed by a public viewing starting at 400pm. Prayer services will start at 700pm. Funeral services will be on March 15, starting at 1000am with interment to follow commencing at 1100am to Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Martindale, TX.
