Mitchell Adams, age 89, passed away October 31, 2025 at Brookside-Commerce Memory Care where he had been a resident for 3 ½ years. Mitchell was born February 18, 1936 in Commerce, GA.. the son of Clyde Adams and Alma Grace Minish Adams Neal. He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Delores Dozier Adams, a son – Mark Adams and daughter, Shelley Adams Christiansen. Survivors include his sister, Sandra Adams Russell in Hull, GA., son Bruce Adams in Boulder City, NV, Daughter-in-law Becky Adams in Prescott, AZ, Granddaughters Justine Adams Chlopek (Tony), Jennifer Adams Petrova in NV, Lora Jones – Tucson, AZ, and Beth Stokes in Phoenix, AZ area, Great Grandsons Tanner and Noah Jones in Tucson.

Mitch graduated from Commerce High School, where he played football and won a football scholarship to South Georgia College. Between high school graduation and his first year of college, he went to Pierre, S.D. and worked in a mine, before coming back to begin his first year of college and football, playing for Coach Bobby Bowden. Bobby wasn’t much older than the boys he coached in his first job as a Head Coach, but he and those boys formed life-long friendships! In fact, Bobby and “his boys” would gather in Douglas, GA every year for a reunion, right up until the year Bobby passed away. Every Sunday, Bobby would gather all his boys together and they would visit a different church in Douglas. Bobby commented at one of their reunions that “If I did that now, I would be fired!” What a shame. Mitchell was a veteran, having served two tours in the U.S. Army. After that, he went to Wickenburg, AZ where he met his wife. They lived in Wickenburg for several years, then moved to Kingman, AZ where Mitch worked at an open pit copper mine. Later they returned to Wickenburg where Mitch began working at Jones Ford as an auto salesman. He never lost his Southern drawl and charm. His customers loved him and would drive several hours to bring their friends to Wickenburg to buy trucks or cars from Mitch. He was the Top Ford Salesman in AZ for 3 years in a row and was presented with a beautiful Sapphire ring in recognition. He and Delores moved back to Georgia in 1999 to care for his mother, who suffered with Dementia.

Mitch was an honest man who always believed that a handshake was as good as his word. He was a Christian and he loved the Lord. He enjoyed coin collecting, jigsaw puzzles, and animals. He might be telling Jesus about all the little goats he raised on his farm in Elbert County and his dog, Daisy.

Special thanks go to the Memory Care Unit staff at Brookside Commerce for the great care and love they showed Mitch.

Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home in Danielsville. Reverend Vaughn Howington, Jr. will preside over the service. Burial will be in the Danielsville Memorial Cemetery.
