Samuel John Wilson, 37, of Apple Valley, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, and also with many loved ones on March 8, 2025. Born on January 28, 1988, Sam was the beloved son of Daniel and Tracy Smith Wilson. He is survived by his parents, his brother Ben Wilson (Katie), his sister Rachel Malcom (Dakota), nephew Daniel Malcom, and niece Mary Katherine Wilson, as well as his paternal grandmother, Shirley Wilson. He is also survived by many extended family members and countless friends. Sam was welcomed into Heaven by Jesus, as well as by his other grandparents, Ray and Shirley Smith, Hansel Wilson, and by his uncle Todd Smith.
Sam was owner/operator of Homer Hardware in Homer, Ga, and was proud of the fact that he had been working in this family business since the age of 12. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Sam was a 2007 graduate of Commerce High School, and was a proud (and loud) supporter of the Commerce Tigers, Sam also loved UGA football and Braves baseball. Mostly he loved the Lord, his family, his friends, his community, and his church. Sam was the epitome of love and joy. He was full of both, and shared that love and joy with others. His family is unsure how to go on without his presence, but take comfort in the knowledge that we will see him again one sweet day.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 11th at 11 AM from Nicholson Baptist Church with Rev. Russ Brown and Mrs. Rachel Malcom officiating with the interment following at Nicholson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday night from 5-8 PM.
If you would like to make a donation in Sam's memory, please do so to the Nicholson Baptist Church.
