Mitchell "Mitch" Scott Green, 68, of Mont Belvieu, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025. He was born on September 8, 1957, in
Nacogdoches, Texas, to the late Garland Curtis Green and Irene Hille Green Moore.
Mitch worked at Proserv Crane Services, as an Installation Supervisor, for over 20 years and finally retired in 2018. After attending Aldine High School, Mitchell enlisted in US Navy in April 1975. He did his training in Great Lakes, Illinois and then served as an Electrician Mate, assigned to the USS Dale Naval Missile Cruiser. He earned the Battle Efficiency Award in 1976 and after serving over three plus years of duty, on board the USS Dale, he was released with a Honorable Discharge, in April 1979.
He lived life with a quiet strength and gentle spirit. He enjoyed golfing, reading, yardwork, fishing, going to the beach, spending time outdoors in the sun, and catching a good movie. Another one of his fun pastimes was going "wing dinging" on Tuesday nights, with his brothers-in-law, where he would get his usual "naked" wings and was always accompanied by his favorite Fanta orange soda…and it had to be Fanta or he wouldn't drink it. Yes, he loved being around his family and friends. And he always looked forward to his birthday and Christmas, or any occasion where gifts might be given, because he loved getting presents. He was worse than a kid.
Mitch had a somewhat dry sense of humor-he could be funny, but quiet most of the time-but he was always ready with a good "Little Johnny" joke, or a perfectly timed one-liner. Known for being reserved and somewhat intimidating, he was intelligent, wise, an observer, a deep thinker and at times even a gentle giant. He was a homebody at heart but taking road trips. He had a passion for fast sport cars, especially his little red Corvette and he loved listening to the "good" music of the 70's, some old time rock'n roll, or some boot scoot'n country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Harry Hutter; stepfather-in-law, John Kinney; mother-in-law, Betty Kinney; sister, Kathy Green Burns; and his precious dog-daughter, Sadie; paternal grandparents, Curtis and Lera Green; maternal grandparents, the Hilles of Bellville; uncle and aunt, Carl Justice and wife Geraldine; and cousin, Brian Justice.
