Mitchell A. "Mike" Kijanka passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Margaret E. (Hartley) Kijanka who passed away on February 5, 2019.

He was predeceased by his mother Czeslawa "Tessie" Kijanka in December of 2004.

He was born in Lowell, MA on June 29, 1941. He had a long career in banking with First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Lowell, Walden Bancorp in Acton, U.S. Trust in Boston, CambridgePort Bank, and Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union in Lowell, retiring in 2007.

Mike was a devout catholic and a communicant of St. Mary's Parish in Chelmsford where he also volunteered in the business office. Most recently, Mike enjoyed streaming daily masses from St. Bridget's Church in Abington, St. Catherine of Siena Church in Charlestown, and St. Irene's Church in Carlisle.

Mike was educated at Saint Stanislaus School, Keith Academy, and graduated from Lowell Commercial College. He also attended the University of Connecticut and Bentley College, receiving various banking certificates.

He is survived by his four daughters: Joanne O'Loughlin and her husband Michael of Nashua, Barbara McLaughlin and her husband John of Waltham, Patricia Hill and her husband Gregory of Chelmsford, and Brenda Plunkett and her husband John of Chelmsford, with whom Mike and his wife Margaret resided for the past few years.

He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren: Joshua, Kayleigh, Miles and Lorelei Plunkett, Kathleen, John Joseph and Matthew McLaughlin, Samantha O'Loughlin, Erin, Megan and James Hill.

He loved being called Grandpa by his grandchildren and they of course could do no wrong. He enjoyed being the only Yankee fan among his four Red Sox sons.

Donations may be made to Mike's favorite charities, the Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society, the Salvation Army, and Saint Jude Hospital.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing.... I remember him visiting his wife where I worked at Westford House. They had such a strong bond... Theirs was truly a match made in heaven.... He used to also come into the Chelmsford Sr Center where I work... He was such a strong, kind, gentle man. Heaven had a beautiful reunion when Mike re-joined his wife, now together for eternity... I pray peace & comfort for all the family... God bless!!

I met Mitch at Walden when I worked in accounting. Followed him to US Trust on Court St in Boston. A very nice guy. Gave me a heads up on a job posting in Lowell shortly after UST bought Walden.
