Mitchell Kim Parkman, known affectionately as Kim, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in
Marshall, Texas, just shy of his 72nd birthday. Born on February 21, 1954, in
Carthage, Texas, to Elizabeth Ann Hooper and Hubert Preston Parkman, Kim's life was marked by his unwavering faith, his love for the great outdoors, and the joy he found in the company of his beloved family.
After graduating from Timpson High School, he furthered his education at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, where he cultivated a passion for learning that would last a lifetime. Kim's professional life was as diverse as it was successful, dedicating 26 years to the Natural Gas industry before finding a second calling in the Funeral Industry, where he became well known and respected in the community where he continued to work until his passing.
Kim's faith was an integral part of his life. He became a dedicated Jehovah's Witness in 2005, a decision that brought him immense peace and fulfillment. His commitment to his faith was evident in his actions and the compassionate way he lived his life.
Kim's love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his family. He married his soulmate, Frankie Parkman, on April 7, 1978, and together they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and an ever-expanding family tree. Kim was a pillar of strength and wisdom for his children, Tracy and Terry Woods of Carthage, Rachael and Jason Payne of Carthage, and Cody and Danielle Parkman of Marshall and his brother, Brad and Michelle Parkman of McKinney.
The legacy of Kim's loving spirit is carried on by his cherished grandchildren, Kate, Daniel, Rylee, Joseph, Zack, Savanna, Sarah, Katlyn, Farrah, Preston, Aurora, Cohen, Channing and Chaz as well as his adored great-grandchildren, Amory, Raylee, Clyde, and Liam. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and individuality.
Known for his quick wit and humor, Kim could light up a room with his stories and jokes. His wisdom was a guiding light for many, and his advice was sought after by friends and family alike. He had a gift for making those around him feel loved and valued. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Kim found solace in the tranquility of nature. His passion for the environment was something he shared with his children and grandchildren, teaching them to appreciate and respect the natural world. He was also a voracious reader, always keen to explore new ideas and expand his knowledge.
Kim Parkman's life was a testament to the values he held dear: love, faith, family, and humor. He will be remembered not only for the life he lived but also for the countless lives he touched with his generosity and kindness. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Kim's presence will be deeply missed, but the love and lessons he imparted will never be forgotten.
Per his wishes no service will be held. Kim chose to be cremated and will be buried with his grandfather, Ed Hooper, at a later date privately with his family.
