Mitchell Speight

Paul Mitchell Speight, 82, entered the gates of Heaven on May 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Mount Airy, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Paul F. and Mabel Redwine Speight. Mitchell enjoyed a long and successful career, serving as a regional vice president for Thurston Motor Lines and later retiring from R&L Carriers. He was a proud member of the Hejaz Shriners Hospital and served faithfully as a lifetime deacon at Fairview Baptist Church.
To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as Pop, and to his friends, simply Mick. He cherished every moment with family and friends, especially the adventures they shared-whether on the beach, the river, fishing at the lake, or exploring dirt roads on Glassy Mountain. A true sports enthusiast, he rarely missed a game when the Clemson Tigers were playing.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Faith Craig Speight of the home; two daughters, Angela Dentler (Brian) and Lisa Huskey (Chris); a brother, Ernest Speight (Bernice); a sister, Barbara Speight Hill (Charles); eight grandchildren, Luke Huskey (Emma), Hannah Huskey (Mo), Madeline Fitzgerald (David), Eden Huskey, Sydney Dentler, Abi Huskey, Jake Dentler, and Natalie Dentler; and a great-grandchild, Alba Huskey.
Mr. Speight was predeceased by a daughter, Crystal Michelle Speight; and two brothers, Hugh Speight and Don Speight.
Mitchell will be remembered as a caring son, a devoted husband, an encouraging father, and a fun-loving brother. He leaves his legacy of love for his family, faith in Jesus, and loyalty as a Tiger fan.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Fairview Baptist Church (Greer) conducted by Rev. Brad Lynch and Dr. Paul Welch. Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1:15-2:15 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Fairview Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Luke Huskey, Jake Dentler, David Fitzgerald, Gerald Ramsey, Pierce Williams, and Chris Haas.
The family will be at the home.
