Mitzi Jo Hochmann, born on December 31, 1980, in Wilmington, NC, passed away on December 26, 2025, in
Roanoke Rapids, NC, at the age of 44. Her untimely departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family and friends. Mitzi's life was marked by her vibrant spirit, creativity, and generosity. She spent some of her early years in Texas, where she graduated from Pearsall High School, taking such classes as auto mechanics. She furthered her education at Cape Fear Community College, studying applied sciences. Mitzi's career included positions such as changing oil at Jiffy Lube and serving as a crew leader at McDonald's, where her work ethic and leadership were admired.
She had a deep love for her family, especially cherishing the moments spent with her nieces and nephews. A woman of many talents, Mitzi loved to dance and sing karaoke, and her artistic abilities shone brightly through her painting, drawing, and her personal style. Her creativity was matched only by her generous heart; she was known for being incredibly giving with her time and resources, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. Despite facing many health challenges, Mitzi maintained a sunny disposition that uplifted those around her. Her resilience and warmth were a beacon of hope and strength to her loved ones.
Mitzi is survived by her parents, Fredrick Soloman Hochmann, Sr., and Rebecca Elaine Nickolson; her siblings, Melissa Gainey, Melanie Mostafa, and Rick Dixon; and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In accordance with the family's wishes, private services have been held to celebrate Mitzi's life.
