Modesto Rodriguez Sr. age 89, of Caguas, Puerto Rico was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Ross Heal Hospital Columbus. Ohio.

Modesto was born on April 12, 1936, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, to the late Jacinto Rodriguez and Otaciana Claudio Rodriguez. At the age of 18, he volunteered to join United States Army, where he served for two years during the Korean War era.

Modesto married the love of his life, Maria Cruz Rodriguez, and together they shared a devoted and loving marriage. He adored Maria deeply and enjoyed doing everything alongside her.

A man who loved to stay busy, Modesto was always improving something around the house-fixing, building. gardening, and decorating. He especially loved decoratng his home for Christmas. His home was the first on the block and was an absolute spectacle, bringing joy to everyone who passed by.

In his spare time, Modesto enjoyed watching his beloved New York Mets play baseball, savoring a cup of coffee with a blueberry muffin from Dunkin' Donuts, and going on dates with his Wife to Cracker Barrel.

Modesto was a man who loved deeply and generously. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back if it meant helping someone else. A true man of faith, he was devoted to Jesus Christ and to his family above all else. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Modesto was preceded in death by his sister Carmen Santiago, and brother Jacinto Rodriguez.

His is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Rodriguez; his Son Modesto Rodriguez; daughter-in-law, Veronica Rodriguez; daughter Carolanna Santos; son-in-law, Joe Santos, sister, Antonia Felix; brothers, Angel Rodriguez, Juan Rodriguez, and Jose Rodriguez; and his cherished grandchildren, Xan Santos, Joshua Moises Rodriguez, Emi Santos, Amaris Christina Rodriguez, Von Santos, David B. Zuniga, Jacob R. Lara, and Anna Sarai Lara.

Calling hours will be held at New Hope Church in Delaware, Ohio from 11 am to 12 pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12 pm. Burial will be held at the Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 10 am.

The Snyder Funeral Homes, Delaware Chapel, is honored to serve the farnily during this time.
