Mona Mae Ray, age 84, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed to her heavenly home on October 23, 2025. She was born in Prague, Oklahoma, on July 23, 1941, to Montague Akins and Ollie Mae (Brown) Akins.

Mona married John Ray in Texas in 1988. She worked as a secretary at Southwestern Bell and AT&T for 30 years. She was a longtime member of the Sharon Baptist Church where she was the director of the nursery.

Mona loved children and loved hugs. She was the loudest cheerleader in the stands when it came to her children and grandchildren. She was also a great cook. She enjoyed taking drives with John, especially their daily ice cream trips to Braums.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents, Montague and Ollie Akins; grandson, Mitchell Booker; and sister, Barbara Drew.

Loving survivors are her husband, John Ray; daughters, Tracey Foster and husband Ivan, and Rowan Moore; sons: Kevin Moore and wife DeAnna, Monte Moore and wife Shawna, Karl Moore, and stepson Stewart Ray and wife Crystal; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m., at AE Funeral Services Chapel, 603 W. Independence St., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74804.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, 2:00 p.m., at Sharon Baptist Church, 19002 S. Gordon Cooper Dr., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74801. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker, Oklahoma.
