Mona Vachon (1937-2025)
Mona Vachon, age 87, a longtime resident of Tewksbury passed away after a long illness.
Mona was born in Berlin, NH in 1937 in a closely-nit community, speaking fluent French and attending local schools. She attended college in Boston and worked as a nanny. After graduating she was employed at R.H. Sterns as a buyer. She met "the love of her life" Raymond, as he offered her rides back home to see respective families in Berlin, NH on weekends. They married and made a home in Tewksbury for over 55 years and started a family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. After her two children entered school, she went to work at Trull Brook Tennis Center. She retired after 36 years.
Mona was a beautiful person who made everybody feel welcomed and special. She had a keen sense of style and always carried herself with class. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, and extended vacations in the sunshine state. Her warmest memories were of times with her husband by her side, being with family, watching her children grow, summers in Akers Pond, but most especially her grandchildren and any time she could spend with them.
She was a devoted mother to Derek Vachon and his wife Kimberly (Dukeshire) of Estero, Florida formerly Stoneham, MA and Kimberly Vachon and her husband Robert Marques of Methuen; a loving Memere to Colby and Jaslyn Marques and Hannah and Gabrielle Vachon. Mona is predeceased by her parents Andre and Madeleine (Labbe) Soucy and her siblings Lola Goulette, Dolores Villeneuve, and Keith Soucy.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet on May 30th, at 11:30 am at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury for her Funeral Mass. Interment will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
