Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother
LOWELL-Joan (Porter) Vachon passed away in Lowell on Friday, June 20, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Vachon.
Joan was born in Lowell on April 16, 1940, a daughter of Ralph and Antoinette (Morin) Porter. She attended the Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School. Prior to her retirement, Joan was employed at B.A.E. Electronics as a clean room technician.
Joan was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her unwavering love for her family will be remembered always.
Joan found her greatest joy in the company of her grandchildren. Whether it was a quiet moment or a lively family gathering. Her love was constant, her support unwavering, and her pride in her family immeasurable.
Joan loved playing cards and sharing laughs with her friends. She and her sisters shared a special bond, often heading off together to try their luck gambling. An avid bowler and a fierce cribbage player, Joan brought her competitive spirit and joyful energy to every game.
Joan's kitchen was a place of comfort and love. Her meals were more than just food, they were expressions of care, tradition, and togetherness. Many of us carry those flavors in our hearts, tied to memories of holidays, celebrations, and everyday moments made special. Joan lived a life full of love, laughter, and connection.
Joan was the mother of the late Suzanne Bickford and grandmother of the late Brian Bickford.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Donna Laurin and her husband Ray of Dracut, and Debra Goulding and her husband Ed of Nashua; her grandchildren, Brad Laurin and his spouse Kristin of Dracut, Brent Laurin and his spouse Kathryn of Manchester, NH, Bailey Goulding and her partner Nick of Saugus, MA, William Goulding and his spouse Grace of Hudson, NH, Nicole Bartlett of Georgia, and Ashley Bickford of Rhode Island; her great grandchildren, Nolan, Tucker, Liam, Finn, Cora, Jett, Alexis, Amya, Liam, and Austin. Joan was also the sister of the late Janet Mitides, Lubert Porter, and Alice Turcotte.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND JOAN'S CALLING HOURS ON THURSDAY MORNING, JUNE 26, 2025, FROM 9 AM UNTIL 11 AM AT THE FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL. HER FUNERAL SERVICE WILL FOLLOW AT 11 AM IN THE FUNERAL HOME. BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE WESTLAWN CEMETERY, LOWELL.
