Monica Covington Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Home on Dec. 18, 2025.
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. - Revelation 21:4
Monica Covington was the fifth of eleven children, born in West Helena on September 17, 1978, to Lincoln and Betty Covington Jr. Raised in Hicks, Arkansas, her life began with a collection of stories that reflected her depth, curiosity, and vibrant spirit.
At an early age, Monica confessed her faith in Christ, a commitment that guided both her walk and her service. Her faith was not only something she believed-it was something she lived. Through ministry, she poured herself into prayer, teaching, music, and care for others, serving as a licensed minister, intercessor, teacher, and songwriter, always using her gifts to encourage, uplift, and restore. Her heart for healing extended beyond the church, shaping her work as an author and therapist, where she listened deeply, spoke truth with love, and helped others find their way forward. Above all, Monica was a valued and trusted friend, offering wisdom, laughter, and presence to those blessed to know her.
Monica cherished spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews (TT babies), friends, and weekend shopping trips with her sisters. She found joy in the everyday moments that brought loved ones together. She later authored So Close Yet So Far, a heartfelt reflection preserving the memories of the Covington family and ensuring that their stories, love, and legacy will live on for generations to come.
An educated and purposeful woman, Monica was pursuing her degree in Psychology at ULAR, driven by a genuine desire to understand others and make a meaningful difference. Her life was marked by faith, family, service, and love; an example that continues to speak.
Monica is survived by her siblings: Morronica (Joseph), Joshua, Daniel, Jeannette, Matthew (Ashton), Shamicka, Darius, and Emmanuel. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, along with a host of family members and friends. She is lovingly remembered alongside those who preceded her in death, including her daughter, Calista, and her siblings, Frankie and Shaley.
