Monique Renee Reels, better known as “Mo,” was born on January 23, 1982, to Terence Brett Reels and Pammie Davis Reels in Carteret General Hospital, Morehead City, NC. She departed from this Earthly Life on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at her home in Beaufort, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, March 7, 2025, at Faith Tabernacle of Praise in Beaufort, North Carolina. Burial will follow. A visitation will be held at 1:00pm prior to the service at the church.

Monique was raised in the North River Community of Beaufort, North Carolina, where she was loved by all who knew her or just passed her way. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved unconditionally. Full of light and laughter, Monique was known for her radiant smile. She was born an angel; very caring, forgiving, nurturing, and a good friend to all, but her best friend was always her daughter.

Monique graduated from ECHS of Beaufort, North Carolina in 2000, where she went on to continue her education at Carteret Community College, obtaining her certificates in CNA1, CNA2, as well as Medical Records. She worked at Carteret General Hospital in Material Management in 2008. After leaving, she began her final career working with civil service within the customer service department of Cherry Point.

Left to cherish Monique’s lasting memory are her parents, Terence Brett Reels and Pammie Davis Reels, one daughter, Nyshyel Travoe Godette, one granddaughter, Malani Berlin Scott, a son-in-law, Shyleem Scott of the home, a loving companion Mark Johnson, of Beaufort NC, one brother, Timmy Davis (Sharon) of Morehead City, her maternal grandmother, Robina Davis of Beaufort, NC, three Godchildren: Jabarra Godette of Havelock NC, Christopher George of Raleigh NC, and Kameryn Johnson of Newport NC, her Godfather Larry Murrel Jr. of Havelock, NC. As well as Nyshyel’s faithful father, Nykoma Jabarra Godette of Havelock, NC. Nyshyel’s loving Grandmother Debbie G. James (James) of Newport. Five aunts: Rena Murray, Laverne Waston (David), Mary Reels, Betty Smith (Primrose), and Linda Prioleau (Tony) all of Beaufort. Four uncles: Elija Reels (Sadie) of Adam Creek, Alonza Reels (Pat), Rayfield Reels (Hilda), and Calvin Reels Jr., all of Beaufort. As well as a host of great aunts and great uncles, a great-great aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Monique was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Calvin and Hattie M. Reels, her maternal grandfather Henderson (Sam) Davis, and three uncles: Abel Reels, Don Reels, and Sammy Davis Jr., all of Beaufort.
