Monone Yvonne Hindbaugh of
Hendersonville, NC passed away peacefully on October 10th, 2023 at the Elizabeth House after a brief illness. She was born in
Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Donald & Elizabeth (Betty) Maveal.
She is preceded in death by her late husband of 42 years and the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Hindbaugh.
Monone enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She and Bob hosted exchange students from all over the world. They also loved going to the theater with friends. While still living in Michigan, she and 11 of her closest friends (Marge, Tanis, Jorda, Nellie, Sally, Jan, Jan, Janice, Bonnie, Diane, Kaye) were part of "Club". These friendships have continued on for over 60 years. She and her family moved to North Carolina in 1984 and opened the Vanda's Hallmark Store on Main Street. She was a graduate of the first Surgical Tech class at Blue Ridge Community College and then went on to work in the operating room at St Luke's Hospital in
Columbus, NC. She loved her job and she loved her coworkers even more. They truly became some of her best friends. After retirement she found time to volunteer at Interfaith Assistance Ministry and took great pride in her work there. She rarely missed watching a Duke basketball game, and it seemed like she always had a puzzle going or a good book in her hand. Her contagious sense of humor came from her parents, Don & Betty, and you could pick her out in a crowd by her distinct laugh that would bring a smile to anyone's face. When asked to describe their Nana in one word, her grandchildren describe her as thoughtful, sweet, adventurous, observant, spunky, cheerful, supportive and joyful.
She is survived by her three children: Annette (Michael) Corn of
Hendersonville, NC, Michelle (Ronnie) Fore of
Arden, NC, and Anthony Ciarvolo of
Hendersonville, NC; her beloved dog Pepper; her five grandchildren: Brian (Christina) Corn of Birmingham, AL, Brianna (Chad) Johnson of
Hendersonville, NC, Zachary Espinoza of
Hendersonville, NC, Jonah (Riley) Fore of
Hendersonville, NC and Nathan (Madeleine) Fore of
Charlotte, NC; and her two great grandchildren, Karlie and Aiden Johnson. She was the eldest of five children: sisters Kathy (Gary) Dudley of Monroe, MI, Mary (Dale) DeSloover of Monroe, MI, Patricia (Douglas) Powers of
Kingman, AZ, and brother Michael (Tiffenni) Maveal of Maybee, MI. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and her pride and joy.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday October 14th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel. A reception will follow in the St. Francis Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Elizabeth House or Interfaith Assistance Ministry.
