Monsignor, Fr. Frederick A. Pasquinelli, age 102, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, formerly of Steubenville, OH. Born May 31, 1923, in the Mt. Washington section of Pittsburgh, PA. Fr. Fred was the 11th of 12 children to Americo and Sira (Maffei) Pasquinelli in Pittsburgh. He received his early education at St. Mary of the Mount grade and high school in Pittsburgh. Following graduation, he served the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific on the U.S. Thomason, D.E. 203. Discharged from service he continued his education at St. Vincent College, Latrobe, PA and St. Francis Seminary in Loretta, Pa. He was ordained a priest on June 7, 1952, by bishop John King Mussco for the diocese of Steubenville, OH. His first appointment was administrator of St. Mary’s Parish, Pine Grove, OH and instructor at St. Joseph High School, Ironton, OH. Through the years of active ministry, he had a variety of assignments, including St. Lawrence O’Tool parish, Ironton, OH; St. Ann parish, Chesapeake, OH; St Mary, Martins Ferry, OH; St John Fisher, Richmond, OH and Our Lady of Lourdes and Blessed Sacrament, Wintersville, OH. Fr. Fred held other assignments in the Diocese of Steubenville, including, Procurator of St. John Vianney Seminary in Bloomingdale, OH; Treasurer of St. Edward High School, Carrolton, OH and Catholic Central High School, Steubenville, OH. He was also the treasurer of the Diocese of Steubenville, a member of the Priests Personal Board, Priests Retirement Plan and the Board of Education. He is credited for introducing uniform bookkeeping in the parishes and parochial schools of the diocese, employee pension plan and Diocesan Self-Insurance Plan.
He retired from active ministry for the diocese of Steubenville, June 10, 1991. For more than 20 years he served, when invited to various parishes in the Steubenville area.
